Black Violin’s Harmonious Blend is Coming to CFCC’s Wilson Center

Slick strings sing sweet vibrations and swallow the last still air from spectators. The bow of violin and viola veers towards divinity. Composure is key; high notes heave themselves into harmony, hypnotizing listeners. Now cut. The harsh tone of hip-hop nips at ankles, picks the rhythm up in style. No time for questions, the beat is breaking down already, building new bridges in its place. Black Violin, a crisp clash of classical and contemporary, here at last.

This year, Black Violin is touring the country to celebrate twenty years of their explosive, genre-bending musical career and making their Wilson Center debut on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 7:30 p.m.

From winning Amateur Night on “Showtime at the Apollo” to being nominated for two Grammy Awards, Black Violin has established themselves as true musical legends. But, their passion for music doesn’t stop there. Marcus and Baptiste are committed to challenging stereotypes, reimagining the possibility of classical music, and sponsoring music education for young musicians. In 2015, NPR wrote, “their music will help keep classical music alive for the next generation.” Since then, they’ve done just that.
