Critically acclaimed North Carolina Company Gaspard&Dancers, founded and directed by Gaspard Louis (formerly of Pilobolus Dance Theater) brings us three contemporary pieces, including their newest work Tota Pulchra Es (You are All Beautiful),

Artistically and athletically gifted, Gaspard&Dancers marry playful physicality with lyricism. Works of haunting beauty and emotional force, Louis’ creations have been called “exuberant,” “organic,” and “buoyant.”

Enjoy three works: Tota Pulchra Es (You are All Beautiful), Magical Cusp and the trilogy inspired by the Haitian Earthquake: Souke (Shake), Annatations, and L’Esprit (the Spirit).

Gaspard Louis was born and raised in Haiti. Not only a dancer with the cutting-edge and internationally renowned Pilobolus Dance Theater, Louis collaborated on nine major dance works during this formative decade with the company.

In 2009, he founded the company Gaspard&Dancers in North Carolina in order to create his own personal vision of dance. To date his most personally resonant work is the recently completed trilogy Souke about the 2010 earthquake in Haiti.  In these, he explores loss, aspiration and renewal on personal, communal, and national levels. He hopes that his work engages the audience in a way that is emotional and visceral.

Currently, he directs The American Dance Festival’s year-round creative movement outreach program, which provides free dance classes to Triangle youth.
