Under the direction of Paula Brinkman, the 100+ voice Choral Society with soloists and chamber orchestra, open their 66th Season and second year in The Wilson Center with Parts I and II from Handel’s masterpiece, ‘Messiah’. Composed in 1741 and first performed in Dublin, the oratorio has become one of the best known, loved and most frequently performed choral works.
Please join us for this seasonal favorite, performed by the oldest and largest choral organization in our area.
Founded in 1950 as The Wilmington Oratorio Society, the chorus is dedicated to high performance standards in presenting master works of choral literature, as well as a variety of contemporary selections. The Society’s mission is to engage, educate and support the greater Cape Fear Community through the vehicle of music, to further the appreciation and love of choral music and to financially support worthwhile charities though the presentation of traditional masterworks, contemporary music and member fundraising.
Established as an integral part of the area’s cultural community, the Society provides annual music scholarships, and supports local non-profits such as The Big Buddy Program, and Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard food bank.
