In commemoration of Memorial Day this year, the world-renowned PAUL TAYLOR DANCE COMPANY (www.ptamd.org) will perform two iconic works inspired by Paul Taylor’s observations about the impact of war on professional soldiers, and the sacrifices that cascade to their families and loved ones. The American Spirit performance features Promethean Fire, a work born in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks on New York City and is a testament to the resilient human spirit. Also, the ensemble will perform the beloved Company B, set to music of the Andrews Sisters, reflecting the unique spirit of our society that was emerging during WW II.
The Folded Flag Foundation (www.foldedflagfoundation.org) is a federally recognized nonprofit organization which provides educational scholarships and support grants to the spouses and children of the United States military and government personnel who have died as the result of hostile action or in an accident related to U.S. combat operations. The foundation’s vision is a total embrace of the family, in which education is the cornerstone.
This presentation of America Spirit is designed to commemorate those men and women who have served our country, to honor their sacrifice through world-class artistry, and to celebrate and honor their families and what they, too, have given to our country.
