Guest artist Danijela Žeželj-Gualdi returns with another ingenious and captivating work- Astor Piazzolla’s Four Seasons of Buenos Aires, where strains of Vivaldi are mingled with exciting tango-inspired dances. Music for strings continues with Tchaikovsky’s beloved Serenade in C, a work the composer regarded as one of his finest.
Born in Croatia, Danijela Žeželj-Gualdi began studying violin at an early age. By eleven, she became the youngest member of the Zadar Chamber Orchestra. In 1998 she graduated from the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, Serbia and became a member of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra. One year later she was granted a full scholarship to the Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, where she graduated with her Masters Degree in 2001. In 2006, she received her doctoral degree in Violin Performance from the University of Georgia.
As an active performer of both the violin and viola Dr. Zezelj-Gualdi is featured extensively in solo recitals and chamber ensembles throughout the United States and Europe, including performances at Carnegie Hall and The Kennedy Center.
She has performed with the Symphony Orchestra PRO ARTE from Vienna, Novi Sad Opera Orchestra in Serbia, Charleston and Augusta Symphony Orchestras, and as concerto soloist with the Chamber Orchestra of Tennessee and the University of Georgia Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Zezelj-Gualdi and served on the faculty of Georgia Perimeter College in Atlanta, GA.
Danijela currently lives in Wilmington with husband and pianist Paolo André Gualdi, and teaches violin and viola at UNCW.
