WSO 2019-2020 Masterworks Series

The Wilmington Symphony presents a five concert Masterworks Series, with something for everyone including Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Piazzolla, Prokofiev, Handel, Bach, Mozart, Mahler and more! Whether you’re a first time visitor or a long-time subscriber, you’ll thoroughly enjoy an evening at the Wilmington Symphony!

Brahms & More  –  Saturday, September 21 at 7:30pm

Tchaikovsky | Rococo Variations Brahms | Symphony No. 3
Cellist Sterling Elliott (2019 Sphinx Competition Senior Division winner) will be featured on Tchaikovsky’s brilliant Rococo Variations, and the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra continues its Brahms cycle with his Symphony No. 3.​

Latin Soul – Saturday, November 16 at 7:30pm
De Falla | El Amor Brujo
After their memorable concert in Wilmington this year the amazing Austin Piazzolla Quintet returns to join forces with the Wilmington Symphony in a concert that also features El Amor Brujo by De Falla with its familiar “Ritual Fire Dance.”

Prokofiev’s Cinderella  –  Saturday, February 8 at 7:30pm
Enjoy the sumptuous music of Prokofiev’s Cinderella ballet ​and the winners of the Richard R. Deas Young Artists Concerto Competition.

Banquet of Baroque  –  Saturday, March 14 at 7:30pm
​Serving up music of Baroque masters Handel and Bach with a side order of selections from Italian and French composers.

Mighty Mahler  –  Saturday, May 9 at 7:30pm
The Wilmington Symphony Orchestra season concludes with the Symphony No. 3 of Gustav Mahler, who said “The Symphony must be like the world. It must embrace everything.” The vast work has military marches as well as rustic dance tunes to music of overpowering emotional intensity.
