Paul Taylor Dance Company To Return To Wilson Center This Spring

The Wilson Center at Cape Fear Community College is pleased to announce the return of the Paul Taylor Dance Company with a special presentation of three works on March 17, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. The Paul Taylor Dance Company first graced the Wilson Center stage in 2018 with the program American Spirit which, in collaboration with the Folded Flag Foundation, celebrated those who have served our country and their families.

One of the most iconic and dynamic modern dance ensembles of our time, the Paul Taylor Dance Company has been innovating and transforming the art form of modern dance since 1954. With a history of multidisciplinary collaborations, passionate expression, and thrilling athleticism, the Company continues boldly into the future under the leadership of Artistic Director Michael Novak.

The program for the Wilson Center includes the following:

  • Arden Court (1981) by Paul Taylor – In a seminal and exuberant work, Taylor examines three kinds of relationships: Supportive, competitive, and flirtatious.
  • La Sacre du Printemps (The Rehearsal) (1980) by Paul Taylor – A dance rehearsal and a Hollywood “noir” whodunit ultimately merge in a clever reimagining of the Stravinsky/Nijinsky masterpiece.
  • Rush Hour (2016) by Larry Keigwin – Taylor Commissioned Choreographer Larry Keigwin’s Rush Hour depicts a wildly pulsating streetscape, showcasing the Company’s legendary and thrilling athleticism.

This special presentation is part of the Wilson Center’s Wonder Series, which features a $10 all-inclusive ticket option for students of all ages and a package discount on three or more shows.

Tickets will be available online to Wilson Center Members beginning at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, with tickets going on sale online to the general public on Friday, December 9, 2022, at 10 a.m. Tickets may be purchased online at WilsonCenterTickets.com or by contacting the Ticket Central box office.
