Tips & Tricks for Virtual Event Viewing

One of the greater challenges of this year has been navigating the digital landscape. Not only are you perhaps attending virtual events for the first time, this is also our first time hosting them. We put together a few tips and tricks to maximize your viewing experience. To learn more or to see upcoming virtual events, visit our Live from the Wilson Center page.
1. Know Your Stuff
Save the streaming link somewhere where you will remember it. Flag it in your email, download your e-ticket to your desktop, add it as a note in your phone—whatever you need to do to make it easily accessible when it comes time to stream the performance. Misplaced the link? Not to worry, all virtual events are linked on our Live from the Wilson Center page. Make sure you have your Spektrix login information on hand as well.
2. Be Prepared

Make sure you can successfully navigate to the streaming page on whichever device you plan to watch the performance on prior to the start date. Testing it out beforehand will also give you a better idea of how long it will take you to set it up so you can be more prepared on the day of the stream.
3. Get Connected

Wondering how you can connect the stream to your TV? If you have an existing at home set up with a SmartTV or one that allows you to stream, cast, or mirror to your television set, you may use that method to watch our performances on additional devices. You may also try using an HDMI cord to connect your computer to your TV. For more tips and suggestions on how to watch the performance on your TV, click here.
We are happy to provide some useful tips on how to watch these virtual performances on other devices, however, we are unable to provide any customer service or technical support for TV streaming.
4. Join Early

On the day of the stream, we recommend you join 10-15 minutes early. This should give you plenty of cushion to troubleshoot any problems should they arise.
5. Take a Deep Breath

In…………and out, ahh now isn’t that better? We appreciate your patience as we work towards bringing the performing arts into your home. Technology can be challenging! We will do our best to assist you in any way we can, but recommend you also try to research your technical questions on your own. You may find your answer easier and sooner than you think!
