For young people and families living in poverty, attending a live performance is not an option; the experience is truly so much more than just entertainment — it can change the way an individual sees themselves and how they view their community. Attending a performance can promote a connection with, and understanding of, humanity in a larger sense, and we at the Wilson Center want to make sure that individuals in need, especially young people, have the opportunity to participate in the transformative creative experience that live theater can be!
Unfortunately, we are unable to support the community that way. Because of the way PNC Broadway and Stars Series shows work, each ticket to a performance that is used must be paid for; it is not legally possible for us to simply give them away.
Your donation will be used to fund and grow the endowment for Hello Arts. Each year, with the help of generous donors, we’ll be able to keep the endowment growing and thereby increase the number of community organizations we can support through the grants program.
Yes! Because the Hello Arts! program is an initiative of the Wilson Center at Cape Fear Community College, it is being administered in partnership with the Cape Fear Community College Foundation, Inc., which has been a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit corporation for more than 35 years.
The Tracy Wilkes Hello Arts! Student Scholarship is devoted to students who have participated in the Hello Arts! (formerly Broadway for a Better World) program. With financial need as the only other award requirement, this scholarship ensures that Hello Arts! recipients may receive assistance to further their education at Cape Fear Community College and transform their lives — without the traditional barriers of entry many students face daily.
The Tracy Wilkes Arts Student Scholarship was endowed by the Fuller Family and welcomes the support of those who support the mission of the Hello Arts! initiative and the importance of access to educational opportunities for our community. Those who wish to increase the impact of this scholarship through their generous gifts may do so by clicking the button below.
