Senior Managing Director

Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Zachary Pluer has 15+ years of experience in hospitality, event, and venue management. Zach spent the greater part of his 20s as lead vocalist/guitarist in an indie touring band (Herman Astro), self-booking tours, handling press, and writing music. In 2013, Zach and his wife decided to move to North Carolina and Zach began his career on the other side of the stanchions—at the historic Carolina Theatre in Durham.

Zach has been with the Wilson Center since 2016 and has handled everything from front-of-house operations, concessions, artist services, accounting, and programming support. Zach was appointed Senior Managing Director in August of 2021, after navigating the Wilson Center through the COVID-19 pandemic. He now oversees the Ticketing, Marketing, and Operations department as well as day-to-day logistics of the venue. His diverse background as both a performer and administrative professional in the live event industry gives him a unique and comprehensive overview of all facets of live performances. He is honored to be a steward of the great community asset that is the Wilson Center.

When he’s not working, he enjoys the outdoors with his wife and absolutely perfectly-behaved and overly-lovable pitbull, Nacho, and playing with his current band, Brother / Husband.
