Flesh-eating giants, spinning breakdancers and more this Spring at CFCC’s Wilson Center!

 

The Wilson Center at Cape Fear Community College today announced the Spring 2024 season of the Wonder Series. The Wonder Series offers a $10.00 all-in ticket for students of all ages that can be applied to ANY seat in the house, and has taxes and fees built into the price. 

The seven shows in the Spring 2024 Wonder Series celebrate a wide variety of international and American tours: Cirque Mechanics Zephyr; Sing and Swing, a Jazz at Lincoln Center PRESENTS Production; Peking Acrobats®; Step Afrika!; Dinosaur World Live; 360 ALLSTARS; and ¡Viva Mexico! ¡Viva America!; and showcase the Center’s commitment to bringing world class entertainment at a reasonable price to the Cape Fear region.

“This is the second year of our Wonder Series here at the Wilson Center, and we are excited to announce the Spring 2024 season,” said Jacki Booth, Wilson Center Education and Engagement Coordinator. “This series of engaging and family-friendly shows will also continue to offer a $10.00 Student Ticket. The ticket is good for any seat in the house, and has no strings attached — all taxes and fees are already built into the price. From PreK to PhD, we encourage students of ALL ages to come play with us here at the CFCC Wilson Center!”

Purchasing tickets to three or more shows in the Wonder Series guarantees a 10% discount on adult tickets. (The Student Ticket is not eligible for the discount.) Tickets will be available online to Wilson Center Members beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday October 18, 2023, with tickets going on sale online to the general public on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. Tickets may be purchased online at www.WilsonCenterTickets.com, or by contacting the Ticket Central Box Office. Cirque Mechanics Zephyr

February 5, 2024 at 7:30 p.m.

Humans have harnessed the power of the wind for thousands of years. Inspired by that timeless and ingenious process the creative team at Cirque Mechanics created Zephyr, an exhilarating acrobatic tale about the choices humans have made regarding our planet and resources. The visually stunning performance will include a rotating full-size windmill.

Sing and Swing, a Jazz at Lincoln Center PRESENTS Production

February 27, 2024 at 7:30 p.m.

Bria Skonberg and Benny Benack III, up-and-coming musicians identified as rising stars by the Jazz at Lincoln Center PRESENTS touring initiative, will celebrate the Great American Songbook in all its playful and sophisticated glory. It will be an unforgettable evening of singin’ and swingin’ with Bria and Benny. This is a unique and affordable opportunity to enjoy great jazz.

Peking Acrobats®

March 2, 2024 at 7:30 p.m.

For the last 30 years the Peking Acrobats® have redefined audiences’ perceptions of Chinese acrobatics. Accompanied by live traditional music and high-tech special effects the Peking Acrobats® exuberantly push the envelope of human possibility with astonishing juggling dexterity and breathtaking balancing feats. The grace and dazzle of the brightly costumed tumblers, acrobats, cyclists and jugglers guarantee a night of family-friendly fun.

Step Afrika!

March 16, 2024 at 7:30 p.m.

Stepping was developed through the song and dance rituals performed by African-American fraternities and sororities. Step Afrika! Is the first professional company dedicated to the tradition. The complex, polyrhythmic-symphonic and heart-pounding performance brings audiences to their feet! Prepare to be inspired by the teamwork, commitment and discipline of the award-winning Step Afrika! artists.

Dinosaur World Live

April 13, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

A prehistoric world of astonishingly life-like dinosaurs is coming to Wilmington! Dare to experience the dangers and delights in this roarsome and interactive family-friendly show. Everyone’s favorite flesh-eating giant, the Tyrannosaurus Rex, will be joined by their friends the Triceratops, Giraffatitan, Microraptor and Segnosaurus. Mind-expanding and suitable for the whole family, Dinosaur World Live is a Jurassic adventure too good to miss.

360 ALLSTARS

May 11, 2024 at 7:30 p.m.

BMX, basketball, breakdancing, beatboxing, acrobatics, drumming and more, the international smash hit returns! A phenomenal physical performance boasting an international cast of World Champion and World Record-holding athletes and artists, 360 ALLSTARS connects the street with the elite to deliver a supercharged urban circus. Fast-paced and bursting with energy, 360 Allstars sold out their Broadway performance, and will be at the Center for one night only.

¡Viva Mexico! ¡Viva America!

May 18, 2024 at 7:30 p.m.

Celebrate the music and dance created when Mexican-Americans combine artistic elements from both sides of the border. Mariachi Garibaldi de Jaime Cuéllar starts the performance with traditional dance and music, and the colorful show concludes with Ballet Folklórico de Los Ángeles’ modern and Oscar-winning choreography from Disney’s Coco. Saturated colors, vibrant folkloric dance, and irresistible music? ¡Viva Mexico! ¡Viva America! Is designed to light up the stage and move the audience.
