The Wilson Center at Cape Fear Community College is thrilled to announce the 2022-2023 lineup for the MOVE! Dance Series, expanding the series to feature five companies beyond the traditional three of seasons past. The 2022-23 MOVE! Series features performances from The Chase Brock Experience, Wideman Davis Dance, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance, Invertigo Dance Theatre, and Pioneer Winter Collective.
The MOVE! Dance Series features exclusive, limited on-stage seating for a fully immersive experience. All tickets are $25 and include admission to the post-show dinner and meet & greet. Commissioned and developed with the support of The Wilson Center, The Chase Brock Experience (CBE)— the critically acclaimed New York City-based contemporary dance company from esteemed Broadway and contemporary choreographer, Chase Brock (Be More Chill, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark)—will return to Wilmington for the world-premiere of an all-new dance-narrative inspired by Brock’s personal family history.
“The Wilson Center is honored to host North Carolina native Chase Brock and The Chase Brock Experience for their first debut outside of New York City,” says Shane Fernando, Former Vice President of Advancement and the Arts at CFCC and Executive and Artistic Director of the Center, “The MOVE! Dance Series brings cutting-edge contemporary dance from all over the globe to the Wilson Center stage for a unique and intimate experience at an affordable price, furthering our mission to make the arts more accessible in this region.”
Titled Big Shot, the new work will feature direction and choreography by Chase Brock and CBE company member Travante S. Baker, with additional commissioning support from The O’Donnell-Green Music and Dance Foundation. Big Shot will feature scenic design by Dane Laffrey (Tony Award-winning revival of Once On This Island), costume design by Laffrey and Chase Brock, and lighting design by Drama Desk-nominee Brian Tovar.
Tickets for the MOVE! Dance Series are available now for Wilson Center Members.
